THERE BE GIANTS.......

(A Parable for Our Time)

And lo their land was hit by famine.........................................................

And the Giants grew hungry, and they did look to other lands.

But being lazy, the Giants did not put their foot upon these lands, nor walk amongst the people, nor fish their rivers or lakes.

And the Giants viewed these lands from afar and decided, "This is what they will fish with there and this is how much they will pay and we will have this product made in foreign lands, made by poor people and children on low income -

and we will profit greatly from their labours."

And the Chroniclers and Teachers of the time went out to meet the Giants with open hands because they were mightily impressed by the size of their promotional budgets.

And the Giants said to the Chroniclers, " Have this product for free and this holiday for free....take your family along."

And the Chroniclers were pleased and were influenced greatly - and did report good things about the Giants products in their Chronicles.

And the readers, swayed by the good things written in the Chronicles, did turn their blind eyes towards the Giants.....Blindly they said " Yes we will buy your products and yes we will pay your prices....And please can we wear your logo on our tunics?"

All except a small group of people who were possessed of great wisdom and perfect vision.......for they recognized the experiance of the maker of the product in their midst.

And the small group of people said, "Why have we not heard of you?

Your product is beautiful, it is outstandingly well made and performs superbly!"

The maker looked them straight in the eye and spoke these words. "In truth" - he replied.............

.

"I have no great promotional budget...............I hold no sway over the Chroniclers to influence them to say good things about my product."

Yet this small group of people did not succumbe to the persuasive powers of the Giants, for they had perfect vision and moreover perfect judgment.  "The Enlightened Ones", they called themselves, and they bought the makers product, and did heartily endorse it to their fellows.

 

And they were lost to the Giants forever............................................................

The maker smiled, he smiled because he was one of the people, he had been born in their midst and had walked amongst the people, talked with them and had fished their rivers and lakes..........and he knew exactly what they needed.
