Price Increase January 2008
Carbon fibre pre-pre costs
have risen excessively since my last order. The new batch has a dramatically
high price increase. I have no explanation from my suppliers as to why there
is such a high increase this time round. Oil? Who knows? Last time the price
rose I was informed by my suppliers that this was due to a huge U.S defence
project that was tying up the worlds producers of the fibres and the plants
that pultrude this in to the pre-preg carbon that rod makers need.
It is a fact that my the custom grades of uni-directional carbon fibre used
in the manufacture of my rods demands a higher quality rating than anything
used in F1 cars and exceeds standards set for NASA Space Shuttle needs.
The grades of carbon fibre specified for my fly rods are custom produced in relatively small quantities to exacting standards - and therefore the price of my carbon fibre will always be high.
One thing is sure, I want the quality of my rod blanks to remain high and, unlike many other blank manufactures my carbon fibre pre-preg will not be sourced from China or any other Far Eastern source.
Prices on all my rods and blanks will reluctantly have to rise as of 1/2/2008.
All orders received up to that date will be held at the current website prices.
As a special offer to lessen the blow of this price increase, you can secure a Rod or Rod Blank order for 2008 at the current listed prices by making a £100 deposit (£50.00 if ordering a rod blank) before 30/1/08.
All you have to do is specify the delivery date you want, which must be within 90 days of paying the deposit on your order - the balance owing will then be due when the rod is ready to be dispatched.
